Searching Online Resources
You can search one or more databases at the same time.
- Click Add.
- Click Online search.
- Mark the checkboxes corresponding to the data sources you wish to search. (You can search more than one at a time).
- Enter your search term.
- To find works on a subject, enter keywords into the All fields field.
- To find works by an author, enter the name into the Author field.
- To find a particular work, enter the title in the Title field.
- To restrict to a certain span of time, click to select the appropriate Year range.
- If desired, you can save the keywords and/or location information (call numbers) from the library catalogs.
- Click Search to begin the search. You can cancel the search if you are receiving too many results.
- Citavi will display your results in the preview pane. If you wish to add only a selection of them to your project, select the checkboxes next to the desired resources and click Add to project. Click Add all to add all the resources found in your search to your project.
- The import will run in the background. As soon as all the references have been added, a message will appear giving you the option to add the new references as a separate selection.
Conducting a free text search
If you wish to conduct a free text search, Citavi will run your search terms against the contents of the Keywords, Title, Abstract, Table of Contents, and other fields in your selected online resources. Which particular fields are included varies from database to database.
