Changing Passwords

You can change your own password for a protected project at any time. If you are a project leader of a team project, you can reset another member's password for them if they forget it. You cannot read the existing password, you can only reset it.

You can change your own password at any time.

  1. Open the protected project.
  2. On the File menu, click Project properties.
  3. On the Team setup tab, click Change password.
  4. Enter your new password and click OK.

If you are a project leader of a team project, you can reset another member's password for them if they forget it. You cannot read the existing password, you can only reset it.

  1. Open the protected project.
  2. On the File menu, click Project properties. Click the Team members tab.
  3. Enter the new password in the Password column for the members in question. If you want to notify the members that they have been added to the team project, select the Notify members by e-mail checkbox. When you click OK, Citavi composes a message in your default e-mail program, which you can verify and edit before sending.

Important: If you are the only Team leader for a project and forget your password, you will no longer be able to open the project!
You can send the project to the Citavi Support team to remove the password protection. This service costs $30 and requires you to send a scan of a declaration signed by all team members that they agree with the password being removed.
