Upgrading from Citavi 2 to Citavi 4

If you previously worked with Citavi 2, you can continue to work with your projects in Citavi 4. You projects will be automatically converted when you open them with Citavi 4. Please note that you cannot open Citavi 4 projects in Citavi 2.

1. Download the Citavi 4 setup: http://www.citavi.com/download. Double-click the file CitaviSetup.exe to start the installation.
2. Start Citavi 4 and enter your license key for Citavi Pro, Citavi Team, or Citavi Reader. If you do not enter your license key you will not be able to convert any Citavi 2 project containing over 100 references.
3. On the welcome screen, click Open or on the File menu, click Open project > Choose project.
4. Open a project you created with Citavi 2. Citavi 4 will create a subfolder with the name of the project in the folder Citavi 4\Projects, save a copy of the old project in the new format, and open the copy of the project. You can now continue working with the project.
5. Citavi 2 can be uninstalled by clicking: Windows Start > Control panel > Uninstall a program.
