Creating a Publication with Word
You are using Microsoft Word to write a research paper, thesis, or journal submission. You can use Citavi to insert formatted citations and quotations into your document. Citavi automatically creates a bibliography in the citation style of your choice.
Open your project in Citavi. Open Word and then click the Citavi tab.
Click Citavi pane.
Assign a project to your document. Click one of the projects in the list or select Open other.
You only need to assign a project to your document once. The next time you open the Word document, Citavi's Word Add-In will load the corresponding project.
Select a citation style.
The citation style determines how your citations appear in the text or in the footnotes.
If you would like to insert your category system, on the Citavi pane right-click a category and point to Insert categories and knowledge items. Then select All categories. You can also insert all of your quotations and thoughts by selecting Include knowledge items.
Citavi adds the categories using the Headings styles in Word.
Select a list style if desired.
To insert a reference, select the reference, and click Insert or double-click a reference.
Citavi inserts the citation in the format specified by the current citation style.
Important: Do not change the contents of a Citavi field (shown here in gray). Otherwise your changes will be lost the next time the document is refreshed.
You may want to change the appearance of the citation. Click Insert advanced to change the appearance.
To insert quotations, switch to the Knowledge tab. Select the desired quotation and click Insert or Insert advanced or double-click.
Depending on the citation style, Citavi will either insert the citation directly in the text or will insert the quotation with a footnote containing the citation.
The citations for all sources that you cited can be viewed on the Citations tab.
Citavi automatically updates the bibliography.
