Adding Attachments

Citavi lets you link as many files as you want to a reference. Often you'll likely attach documents in PDF format. However, you can also attach files in other formats (.docx, .pptx, .rtf, etc.).

Important:

The maximum size for an attachment is 50 MB. Larger files cannot be uploaded. The only exception is that PDF files can have a file size of up to 100 MB.

Linking a File to a Reference

  1. Switch to the desired reference in the Reference Editor.
  2. On the Reference tab, click Local file.
  3. Select the file you want to add.

The file will be uploaded in the background. You can continue working with it in your project in the meantime. However, you cannot close the project until all background tasks have completed.

Please note:

To reduce the time it takes to upload files, Citavi compresses copies of your PDF files in your Cloud project. If you don't want the file to be compressed, you can also upload the file without compression. To do so, click the small arrow next to Local file. There, select Upload uncompressed PDF.
