Exporting to EndNote

Citavi exports references to EndNote in the EndNote Tagged format, a tagged text format that EndNote imports with its EndNote Import filter and that many other reference management programs can read as well.

  1. In the Reference Editor on the File menu, click Export.
  2. Choose which references to export, then click Next.
  3. Select the EndNote Tagged format. If it is not displayed, click Add export filter and select the filter.
  4. Click Browse, enter a name and choose a location for the file, and click Save.
  5. You can save an export template to save time in future exports.
  6. Click Next. Citavi lets you know that the export was completed successfully.

Please note:

In EndNote, on the File menu, click Import to bring in the file, and choose EndNote Import as the import option.
Categories and groups in Citavi cannot be imported in EndNote.
