Installing in a Remote Desktop or Citrix Environment
You can run Citavi in a multi-user server environment such as Windows Remote Desktop Services (formerly "Terminal Server") or Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. The standard system requirements apply. Keep the following in mind for multi-user deployments:
- Deployment. Install Citavi for all users with an MSI package and a software distribution system. See Deploying Citavi with a software distribution system.
- Licensing and account login. For shared multi-user environments, deploy Citavi for DBServer, which uses a server-side license file. Only in a Citavi for DBServer deployment can you suppress the per-user Citavi Account login with a customized MSI installation: Citavi for Windows obtains its license from the Citavi Account, so disabling the login would leave the client unlicensed. See Technical Environment and the Citavi for DBServer setup checklist.
- Pickers and Word Add-In. The Citavi Pickers and the Citavi Word Add-In only work when the corresponding web browser or Microsoft Word runs in the same user session on the same server as Citavi.
- Memory. Citavi loads the entire project into memory, so plan the RAM for each concurrent session according to your users' project sizes.
