Scanning ISBN Numbers

If you often have to add books by ISBN, using a smartphone app to scan ISBN barcodes can help. The app converts the barcode to a string of numbers. We describe how to do this using the app "Binary Eye" as an example:

1. Start the app, enable the continous scan option and start scanning.
2. If the barcode is recognized, you will be notified.
3. Repeat these steps for all of the books you want to add to Citavi.
4. In the app, click the History icon.
5. Click the burger menu > Share as File > CSV
6. You can now transfer the file to your computer by email or any other means.
7. Open the Citavi project.
8. Click ISBN, DOI, other ID and then click Import file.
9. Click Choose file.
10. Select the CSV file you saved on your computer.
11. After Citavi has finished searching for the bibliographic information, click Add to project.
