Formatting a Bibliography
Video: Formatting a Bibliography
Changing a bibliography's formatting
When you use the Word Add-In, the appearance of the bibliography is determined by two things:
- The citation style controls the spacing between entries and whether individual entries have a hanging indent.
- The paragraph styles in Word define font type, size, and alignment (i.e., whether your text starts on the left or if it should be justified).
To change the appearance of the bibliography (font, paragraph spacing, etc.), modify the following styles in Word (see these instructions from Microsoft):
- Citavi Bibliography Entry is based on the Normal style. Edit the Normal style and/or the Citavi Bibliography Entry style to change the appearance of the bibliography.
- Citavi Bibliography Heading is based on the Heading 1 style. Edit the Heading 1 style and/or the Citavi Bibliography Heading style to change the appearance of the bibliography heading.
Changing the bibliography heading
The citation style you choose determines the bibliography heading: References, Works Cited, etc. In the Word Add-In you can remove the heading or replace the text with your own. In Word on the Citavi ribbon, click Options and select the option you want:
