Step 2: Run the Administrative Settings Assistant
Be sure to read the Quick Help texts in the Administrative Settings Assistant.
1.On the Tools menu, click Options.
2.On the Folders tab, click Administrative Settings Assistant.
3.Follow each step in the Administrative Settings Assistant.
1.Export initial settings. You can choose which of the settings in the table above that you want to include in the initial settings.
2.Set the folder for user files (optional). If you need to change the default location for user files, add that setting to your InitialSettings.csd file in this step.
3.Disable options. You can prevent users from changing some settings by providing an AdminSettings.csd file to disable the options. You can disable the following options:
•Automatic updating
•Offline copies (caching)
•Backup settings
•Proxy settings
•E-mail features (orders, etc.)
About Administrative Settings
When Citavi starts, it checks the bib folder (contained within the Citavi program folder) for administrative settings files, AdminSettings.csd and InitialSettings.csd (which are both XML files).
InitialSettings.csd contains your default configuration and is only applied the very first time Citavi is run within a user account. Afterward, the user can modify any of these settings.
AdminSettings.csd contains disabled options and is applied every time Citavi is run. The user cannot override these settings (provided, of course, that they do not have write access to the Citavi program folder to remove the AdminSettings.csd file).
