Backing Up Your Projects
Citavi for Windows backs up your projects automatically. You can make a manual backup whenever you want. Here are all of your backup options:
Automatic backups for local projects
Whenever you close a local project, Citavi automatically creates a backup copy. You can tell Citavi where the backups should be saved and how many copies should be saved at any given time. Attached files are not included in the backup copy. Cloud projects and DBServer projects are backed up in a different way.
Archiving projects manually
You can create an archive for a project, regardless of whether it's a local, cloud, or DBServer project. In contrast to backup copies, archives include all PDF files, cover art, and images in the Citavi Attachments folder. Exception: DBServer archives do not contain attached files in the archive file.
Making a manual copy of a project
A copy of a project differs from an archive in just one way: all files are copied individually. As soon as you have created a copy of a project, you can edit it directly. You can use the project copy to download a cloud project and continue working on it locally.
