If your Citavi project is saved on your computer, on an external drive, or on a network drive, you can change the name in Windows Explorer:

  1. Close Citavi.
  2. Switch to the folder \Documents\Citavi 6\Projects
  3. Open the project folder.
  4. Rename the file.

After you restart Citavi, the former project name will still appear on the Welcome Screen. Click the name. Citavi lets you know that the project could not be found and offers to delete the entry from the list. Click Open project and then click Local. There you will find your project with the new name.

If your Citavi project is saved in the Citavi Cloud, you can change the name on the Welcome Screen.

  1. On the Welcome Screen, click the line containing the current project name.
  2. Click the More icon (three dots).
  3. Enter the new name in the Name field.

You can only rename a cloud project if you have the necessary rights.

Only the database administrator can rename a DBServer project using the DBServer Manager. We describe how to do this in the Managing Server Projects chapter.

After you restart Citavi, the old name will still appear on the Welcome Screen. Click the name. Citavi lets you know that the project could not be found and offers to delete the entry from the list. On the Welcome Screen, click Open project > DBServer > [New project name].
