Creating a New Server Project
In the database you created for Citavi projects, create a new project or import projects that previously were saved locally on a user computer.
Creating new projects
- Start the Citavi DBServer Manager if you haven't done so already. Double-click the file Citavi DBServer Manager.exe in the folder \Citavi 6\bin\.
- Click Create new project.
- Enter the project name in the DBServer project name field. Umlauts and other special characters cannot be used.
- If you defined a default path for project attachments, a subfolder with the project name will be created automatically. Otherwise, next to Attachments path click Browse to define the path to the folder that Citavi should use for saving attachments to the project such as PDF or image files. We recommend using a UNC path, such as \\ACME-SQL01\libraries.
- Click Apply.
Please note:
For users to be able to add attachments to references, you need to provide editing privileges for the corresponding folder. If users should only be able to read attachments, it's fine for the folder to only have read-only rights.
Importing a Local Project
- Start the Citavi DBServer Manager if you haven't done so already. Double-click the file Citavi DBServer Manager.exe in the folder \Citavi 6\bin\.
- Click Import local project.
- Select the Citavi project you want to import. Projects created with Citavi 3 or later can be imported.
- Click Apply.
