• Citavi for Windows is ideal for both small and large teams that want to collaborate via the Citavi Cloud. It offers easy project sharing without requiring complex infrastructure.
• Citavi for DBServer is the on-premises solution, built for larger teams within organizations that have their own IT infrastructure (e.g., SQL Server, shared network drives). It’s the best choice when cloud-based collaboration isn't an option due to internal policies or data security requirements.

Please note:
In the past, we recommended sharing local projects via a Windows network drive for small teams. While still functional, this approach is no longer supported due to reliability and compatibility concerns. Today, we strongly recommend using Citavi Cloud projects for team collaboration in Citavi for Windows — whether you're in a small or large team. Cloud-based projects ensure better data integrity, ease of access, and real-time collaboration across locations.

To collaborate using Citavi for Windows, the only requirement is storing your project in the Citavi Cloud.

Citavi for DBServer. is the ideal solution for large teams that need to collaborate on Citavi projects within a secure, on-premises infrastructure. It’s specifically designed for organizations that prioritize data security, centralized control, and compliance with internal IT policies.

• Full On-Premises Control: Citavi for DBServer runs entirely within your organization’s infrastructure, giving you complete control over project data, user access, and storage. This setup is ideal for institutions that must comply with strict data protection regulations or internal security standards.
• Granular Roles and Permissions: Define specific roles and permissions for each team member at the project level. This ensures that users can only access or modify data according to their responsibilities, supporting secure and structured collaboration.

• Flexible Licensing Options: Citavi for DBServer supports a flexible licensing models to fit your team’s needs:

• • Per-seat licenses: Fixed access for designated users.
  • Concurrent licenses: Flexible access for a larger group, with a limit on simultaneous users
• File Attachment Storage on Your Network: Attachments such as PDFs and image files are stored securely on a network drive accessible to all team members. This drive can be a standard Windows share or a WebDAV-compatible storage system, depending on your organization's setup.
