Inserting References into a Publication
Using the Publication Assistant, you can easily insert references into your document. Depending on your settings, Citavi can insert the reference in the main body of the text or in a footnote. Even though Writer is used as the example below, the instructions also apply to Word if you do not want to use the Word Add-In.
Creating a Publication with Writer
Vor der Formatierung |
Nach der Formatierung* |
(vgl. {Müller 2004 #38:12}) |
(Cf. Miller 2004, p. 12) |
({Erpenbeck 2005 #65}{Lloyd 2003 #57}{Mugabushaka 2005 #101}) |
(Erpenbeck 2005; Lloyd 2003; Mugabushaka 2005) |
({Schmidt 1994: 84}, zit. nach {Müller 2003: 14}) |
(Schmidt 1994, p. 84, as cited by Miller 2003, p. 14) |
Often, you will cite several sources for a single statement. Simply insert the placeholder for each reference directly beside the others and Citavi will automatically merge them into a multiple citation according to the selected citation style: {Norman 2002}{Nielsen 2000}{Tufte 2006} becomes (Norman 2002; Nielsen 2000; Tufte 2006) after formatting using the Citavi Default Style.
To force Citavi to create individual citations for each reference, separate each placeholder with a non-breaking space (in Word, type Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar).
Hint: You can also insert placeholders simply by double-clicking (and thus save a lot of time) if you first change your settings under: Tools > Options > General > Publication Assistant.
