Advanced: using saved searches to group your sources
If you want to define your own criteria for a particular section, use Citavi's search feature. A few examples:
- Cases by country: UK Cases, European Cases
- French-language dissertations submitted after 2000
- Documents with an online address or DOI under the heading Online Sources (see example below)
Follow these steps to create a grouping for all online sources with either an online address or DOI name:
- Search for all references that have an entry in the Online address or DOI name fields. Use the quick search and enter the following: "Online Address": * OR DOI: *
- Save your search.
- Follow steps 1-4 in the chapter Creating a New Grouping.
- Under Criteria select Saved searches.
- Select the saved search from the drop-down menu.
- Create a heading, such as Online Sources.
- Click OK.
- Under Sections, Double-click [Without heading: References in no section]. It will later contain all references without an online address or DOI name.
- Enter a heading, for example Printed Sources.
- Save your changes and close the window by clicking OK.
