Purchasing Licenses

You want to purchase a Citavi for Windows license for yourself.

You already have a license for Citavi 4 or 5

To purchase the upgrade to Citavi 6 at a discount, use the discount in your Citavi Account:

  1. Open the Citavi Account registration form.
  2. Create a Citavi account with the email address that you used when purchasing Citavi. If you no longer have access to the email account you used to purchase Citavi, contact the Citavi Support team.
  3. Enter your password. If you've forgotten your password, you have the option of choosing a new one.
  4. In Citavi Account click the More icon (the button with the three periods) and then click Citavi Shop.
  5. In the Categories column, click Upgrade and then click Add to cart.
  6. Then, click Purchase. Here you can add your current address and choose a payment option. On the confirmation page, click Purchase now.
  7. You can now find your license in your Citavi account.
  8. Start Citavi. On the Welcome Screen, click the account symbol. icon_login
  9. Enter your user name and password.

You're purchasing a Citavi license for the first time.

  1. Go to the Citavi Shop.
  2. Place your order.
  3. You will receive an invoice and an email from Citavi Account.
  4. Open the email from Citavi Account. Click the link to select a password.
  5. You will be redirected to the Citavi Account registration form.
  6. Enter a password that you'll later use to log in to Citavi Account.
  7. Click Done.
  8. Start Citavi. On the Welcome Screen, click the account symbol. icon_login
  9. Enter your user name and password.

You purchased licenses for Citavi for Windows for other people

You purchased one or more Citavi licenses for your organization. You now want to distribute these licenses to your users.

  1. Log in to your Citavi account.
  2. Click Licenses.
  3. In the Licenses column, click a license with the Unassigned designation.
  4. Next to the User information entry, click edit.
  5. Enter the email address for the license recipient. If you want to assign the license to yourself, enter your own email address.
  6. We will send an email with a confirmation link to the email address you entered. After the recipient clicks the link, the license will be available in his or her account. If the recipient does not have an account, he or she should create one with the same email address the license was assigned to.
  7. The new user should then start Citavi. On the Welcome Screen, he or she should click the account symbol. icon_login
  8. After that the user can enter his or her login information for Citavi Account.

You purchased Citavi for DBServer licenses

Your organization is using Citavi for DBServer. You purchased either per seat or concurrent licenses in the Citavi shop. After your purchase, the license file is available for download in your Citavi account.

  1. Log in to your Citavi account.
  2. Click Licenses.
  3. Click Download license file.
  4. If you're the database owner (DBO), start Citavi DBServer Manager and install the license file on the server.
