Converting EndNote, RefMan, or RefWorks Fields to Citavi Fields

Your Word document contains fields that were inserted using the EndNote™, Reference Manager™ (RefMan), and RefWorks™ software programs. You now want to use Citavi to continue working on the document.

Converting RefMan, RefWorks, or EndNote Fields to Citavi Fields (with source database)

Choose this method if you have access to the database that was used to create the Word file:

  1. If you haven't yet done so, import your EndNote, RefMan or RefWorks library into a new Citavi project.
  2. Open the document containing the EndNote fields.
  3. If you were working with the Track Changes feature, turn it off and accept all changes in the document.
  4. On the Citavi tab, click Citavi pane.
  5. Select the Citavi project that you imported the EndNote library into.
  6. On the Citavi ribbon, click Convert > EndNote, Reference Manager, or RefWorks fields to Citavi fields.
  7. Citavi creates a copy of your document with fields.

Please note:

It is possible to convert RefWorks fields if you created the document with RefWorks Write-N-Cite. There is not yet any way to automatically convert fields created with the RefWorks Citation Manager.
