Simple and Advanced search
To search library catalogs and bibliographic databases, Citavi offers two kinds of online search: simple and advanced. Most of the time, the simple online search is all you need.
Getting started: searching library catalogs
A simple online search lets you search all available fields-(fields vary by information provider). You can also search for a specific author or by title, and you can restrict the year range.
The advanced online search lets you search all available fields individually. You can enter search terms in multiple fields and group them with parentheses and operators. This option lets you create very precise searches.
Keep in mind that different databases offer different search options. One might only offer search by keyword and author, while another offers a dozen fields. Some information providers permit wildcards (for example, demo?ra* for Democrat, democracy, democratic, etc.), while others don't.
